A Look Back at February's Predictions

So back in February I made 16 predictions about the upcoming sports scene. And while a few aren't over yet, most of them are, so I figured I would take a look and see how well I did.

1. NBA Finals: Lakers vs Cavs
I got this half right, the Lakers are back in the finals. Unfortunately LeBron and the LeBronettes couldn't do enough to continue their regular season success going. The Lakers dominated the Western Conference and turned up the heat when they needed to.

2. Lakers in 6
Still Waiting...

3. NHL Finals: Caps vs Blackhawks
Again, half right, except for the next part.

4. Caps in 5
Screw you Montreal.

5. Canada will win the most medals in the Olympics
Nope, but they did win the most gold medals with 14.

6. Germany will be 2nd, Norway 3rd, US 4th
Germany was 2nd, Norway 4th, and the US 1st.

7. No one will collect more than 40 total medals
Correct, the highest was the USA with 37.

8. America will win a curling medal
Probably my worst prediction. America got destroyed and looked terrible. I may actually try out for the curling team to avoid such an embarrassment in 2014.

9. At least one team seeded 14 or higher will win a game in the NCAA tournament
Correct again, except that it was Ohio, who beat Georgetown, which ruins a prediction later.

10. The Final Four will be Kansas, Villanova, Georgetown, Michigan St.
This was doomed from the start, considering 3 of the 4 teams were in the same region. But to be fair, Michigan St. was the least likely of the 4 and it came through.

11. The title game will be Kansas vs Georgetown
Couldn't happen, but to be fair, they lost in rounds 2 and 1 respectively. Guess I'll try again next year, yuck.

12. Kansas Wins
No they don't.

13. Ndamukong Suh will be the first overall pick
Close, he went second to the Lions. However he will still be the best DT to come out of college since Warren Sapp, at worst.

14. Sam Bradford will be the first QB taken
Correct, and he was also taken first overall, ruining the above prediction. Remember, before this people still believed in Jimmy Clausen, except me.

15. Tim Tebow will not be a first round pick
No Comment

16. The Big 12 and SEC will have at least 16 players drafted in the first round
Correct, 16 on the dot. That was probably the most difficult prediction of the bunch and I got it right. I'm proud of that.
